Anger 13, Issue #19, April 2007

Wreckcreation, a very new and promising local band, played first. They were a three-piece this night (guitars, bass/keyboards, vocals, and programming), their keyboardist apparently sidelined for this show. They mixed both goth and industrial elements in relatively equal parts, resulting in a mix of organic and mechanical rhythms. The guitars were heavy and the vocalist strong, her voice soaring and emoting without going too far. The electronics were a mix of harsher percolating synths with and more delicate strings. And they already have a symbol; situated behind them was a large, partially-illuminated, pincer-like "W" symbol. The bassist and guitarist also displayed the symbol on their shirts. Toward the end of their set, Wreckcreation slowed down, focusing on more atmospheric pieces and demonstrating unforced versatility.
